View Full Version : That KOEI-Tecmo Merge...Why wasn't it Discussed Here?

Has anyone heard the news about KOEI (you know what it's famous for :p) and Tecmo (famous for those er...Dead or Alive's girls with 'interesting' bodies and Ninja Gaiden, as well as the Project Zero/Fatal Frame series) merging on 1st April, after Tecmo rejected Square Enix's offer (guess Dead Fantasy wasn't going to be possible, after all) and went for this one instead?

I'm surprised that ironically, this wasn't discussed in the KOEI forums, considering this is 'major' news for both this and Tecmo. If you want to know, here's some stuff I managed to unearth from Kotaku...

Tecmo Koei Merger Creates Koei Tecmo Holdings (http://kotaku.com/5139085/tecmo-koei-merger-creates-koei-tecmo-holdings)

At this rate, I'm going to think up some titles for what KOEI and Tecmo shall become if I merge the names themselves...

Yeah, I've been following this merge-drama since day 1, but honestly I don't think this is going to be a huge change. I mean Tecmo will probably still keep making those Tecmo games and Koei will keep making Koei games. And I don't see either company interfering with the other's business.
They're just doing it together now... as a married couple... who share the same wallet.

But I'd like to see what would happen if Square-Enix was to take over Eidos.
This is the merge-drama episode 2.

I havent really been following it all that much, but I really dont think that its going to affect the games all that much...I think its just a business related thing...so hopefully the games will remain unchanged :)

Yeah. I guess it's something to do with the business side of things.

However, one day at this point or something...KOEI and Tecmo would one day make a crossover game, which features the KOEI girls'...erm...'one-of-Zero-Punctuation's-vocab-for-the-females'-private-parts' being increased by ten-fold and involving Ryu Hayabusa slaughtering thousands of unlucky unkown peons in a true gore fashion or something. >_>;

if think the onlyu thing that might happen might be characters from ones games apperaing in the other well it would be good to see ryu hayabusa vs hanzo hattori

Another thing that might happen is Koei using Namco's staff in programming games... And the other way 'round of course.
And that hopefully means improved gameplay mechanics. It would be pretty sad if it had a negative effect on the games.
