Game Features

Modes
Official Mode
Returning from DWG2, it's the story mode that follows actual storyline from the anime series
The following series have Official story:
UC0079 - Mobile Suit Gundam
UC0087 - Mobile Suit Z Gundam
UC0093 - Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack
UC0096 - Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn
CE71 - Mobile Suit Gundam SEED
CE73 - Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny
Storytelling is done by a combination of narratives, voiced conversations, pre-rendered CG cutscenes, and anime stills directly taken from the shows
After clearing the storylines, an extra stage may appear that will let you unlock the MA appearing from that series

Ultimate Mode
The original crossover story mode of the game
The mode consists of a series of separate storylines
Each stories mostly have separate settings and main characters
Some stories have unique winning or losing conditions, where if you fail you will need to restart storyline from the beginning
Storytelling is done by voiceless narratives and conversations, with no cutscenes of any sort

Graphics and Audio
Art style is returning to the more realistic style in DWG1-2 rather than DWG3's cel-shading
To supplement the art style, the MS textures are made to be more realistic with paint chipping and such
MS thruster output will also get smaller the lower the remaining Thruster Gauge is. Also when remaining Thruster is low there will be an alert beep as reminder
The game also has even more units appearing on screen, however framerate is expected to drop occasionally as with most recent Warriors games
Custom Soundtrack option is available at least in Asian versions; it is unknown whether it will be also brought to Western versions
If the above is true, it will be possible to replace any in-game BGMs with own songs stored in the console
It is also possible to adjust volumes for each individual custom BGMs

HUD
http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp191/koeiwarriors/BlackKite/gw4hud2.png
The health bar has been moved back to the lower left corner
For the first time in DWG series, the health bar now features the pilot's portrait
Thruster Gauge is now located above the health bar
Shotdown Count is now placed next to the health bar; the lower right corner now features a box that describes current missions
It is now possible to lock-on to enemy ace MS as well rather than only MAs
The new yellow bar left of the pilot's portrait is Burst Gauge, which will be explained below

Gameplay
Burst Mode
This mode is very similar to Rage Mode in Dynasty Warriors 8
Burst Mode is activated by pressing R2 when the Burst Gauge is full. To fill this gauge, destroy enemies using SP attack, or beat enemy ace pilots
When Burst Mode is on, the pilot's portrait will change into a pumped up version
Weapons will be at maximum upgrade level during Burst Mode regardless of current actual upgrades
Each pilots and units have their own specific Burst Mode effects based on their original settings
Units that activate their specific hyper modes or forms will do it in Burst Mode (eg. Unicorn's Destroy Mode, 00 Gundams' Trans-Am, Strike Freedom's METEOR)
Examples of Burst Mode effects by pilots:
Battle Newtype - Causes nearby enemies to be in slow motion - Amuro Ray, Char Aznable, Judau Ashta
Sympathy Newtype - Instantly recovers some in Burst Gauge after it's depleted - Kamille Bidan, Banagher Links, Uso Ewin
SEED - Thruster Gauge never depletes - Kira Yamato, Athrun Zala, Shinn Asuka
Moonrace - Extends Burst Mode duration - Loran Cehack, Gym Ghingnham
Ace Pilot - Triggers more effective chain explosions - Kou Uraki, Anavel Gato, Garrod Ran, Mu La Flaga
Examples of Burst Mode effects by units:
Bio Sensor - Recovers health for any melee damages dealt - Z Gundam, ZZ Gundam, Re-GZ
Psycommu System - Recovers health for any projectile damages dealt - The O, Qubeley, Zeong, Bound Doc
Hyper Mode - Chance of criticals from melee attacks - Burning/God Gundam, Master Gundam
Phase Shift Armor - Increases defense and won't get flinched - Aegis Gundam, Duel Gundam, Buster Gundam, Blitz Gundam

Combination Burst
DWG3's Partner Strike has been improved into Combination Burst
To execute Combination Burst, unleash an SP attack during Burst Mode (explained above)
If successful, the Combination Unit will show up after player unit has done its SP attack to unleash its own SP attack
Ally ace Mobile Suits, Mobile Armors, and even Warships are now also selectable as Combination Burst partners
The Combination Unit's attack direction can be altered for the duration of SP attack; this includes being able to control warships for a brief time as well
Warships that appear in the game and selectable in Combination Burst are as following:
White Base [Captain: Bright Noa]
Gaw [Captain: Garma Zabi]
Musai [Captain: Gihren Zabi, Kycillia Zabi]
Argama [Captain: Bright Noa]
Radish [Captain: Henken Beckener]
Ra Cailum [Captain: Bright Noa]
Rewloola [Captain: Nanai Miguel]
Garencieres [Captain: Suberoa Zinnerman]
Archangel [Captain: Murrue Ramius]
Dominion [Captain: Natarle Badgiruel]
Minerva [Captain: Talia Gladys]

Charge Shot
The Shot (T) button can be held and the MS will charge up. When the button is released it will launch a powerful shot attack
Any parts in the combo (S-string, Charge attacks, Dash attacks) can be canceled into a Charge Shot as long as the Shot button is held beforehand
Charge Shot can split destroyed enemy parts to create better chain explosions

Charged SP Attack
Combination SP attack in past games has been changed to Charged SP
As with past games, this second ground SP is only available to Class 1 (full moveset) Mobile Suits
Other prerequisites include having the MS with at least 2 SP bars, and the pilot reaching a certain amount of level
Once all requirements are fulfilled, holding the SP (O) button will allow the SP bar to be charged up to unleash the other SP attack

Upgrade Plans
Blueprint plans needed to be equipped to the MS to increase both their stats and weapon strengths
Upgrade plans are obtained by using the MS, destroy lots of enemy grunts of the same type, and defeating enemy aces
Plans can be mixed with each other to combine the stat distributions
Weapons are upgradeable using money and materials, the latter of which are obtainable by scoring lots of shotdowns in battles
Weapon upgrades are noticeable not only from damage output but also visually, especially on beam-based weapons which will become larger

Battle System
The war system is closer to DWG1-2 so there is no more player respawning in exchange for better unit defense
Base system in DWG3 is returning with some degree; some bases have special effects:
Production Field (MS icon) - Will continue to produce Raid Captain grunts for the army owning it which can capture fields and hold aces on their own
Repair Field (Wrench icon) - Will gradually recover health of all units of the army owning it
Mobile Armor battles are easier to understand with individual part HPs being shown; Depleting these HPs will destroy the corresponding parts, giving handicaps to the MA
There is an extra upgrade plan reward if all parts of a MA can be destroyed before defeating them
Warships play much more important roles than ever: They will appear in close elevations so that players can damage the warship by destroying nearby enemy grunts or even directly attack the warships themselves
Warships can also give long-range support barrages and even frequent barrage attacks at close proximity

Other Gameplay Features
The gigantic Mobile Armors are now playable. When using them, the camera will scale appropriately so that other MS will look very puny in comparison
Map layouts are more akin to DWG1-2's larger maps than DWG3's boxed maps
Space maps are returning. Although they are still not 3-axes, some enemy grunts will hover at different elevations which make the stage look more dimensional
There are also oversea and aerial maps
Multiplayer is available in both 2-player online and splitscreen offline co-op for both Official & Ultimate modes
In order to join an online co-op session, the client must have previously cleared the corresponding storyline
When game progression is far enough, it will be possible to change the difficulty star rating in any cleared stages

The Beargguy, unlike the other DLC units, was a first-print incentive in the Asian versions, so not everyone are possible to get it. As such there aren't any stages that'll force you to use it at all. :)

This is something I really hope stays when it comes here. Kinda want real Gundam OST music in the game instead of what we usually get, even if there's nothing wrong with that music.

Aw, that's sad. It should have just been in the game instead from the beginning. Hopefully it'll be available here too as DLC or pre-order bonus or something, so I can pretend that at least on Build Fighter unit got in the game.

But anyways, I can only say that I'm really looking forward to this game now. Gundam Build Fighters really got me to want to play some gundam game again, but well I've pretty much done everything in DWG3 so it's not really the most exciting game anymore.
Though I am disappointed that they didn't include any Build Fighters gundams like Star Build Strike or Wing Gundam Fenice. Or even AGE Gundams, even if that series wasn't very good. All these SEED stuff just feels old and boring now, with the more recent series feeling more relevant. But well, at least it's not more UC crap. :D

Build Fighters just ended some moments ago, so I think it'd be a bit too early to have good chances of it getting featured in prominent Gundam crossover games like this if we look at other examples like SRW. ^^;
Give it a year or two, and the chance should increase gradually. :)

Anyway the US teaser trailer is up, the release timeframe is now around July 2014.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED is newly featured in DWG series starting this game

What did you mean by that exactly, wasnt Seed in the other 2 DWG gundam games or am i misinterpreting that somehow?

Sure :)
The SEED series that was featured in GW2-3 was Gundam SEED Destiny, which is the sequel to the first Gundam SEED. Hence why Kira & Athrun were instantly in their grown-up personages and they straight used Strike Freedom & Infinite Justice.
Starting this game, we have the first Gundam SEED featured, and that also means we get the younger Kira & Athrun, as well as Strike, Freedom, Aegis and Justice Gundams among others.

And this first Gundam SEED is also the only new featured series in-game unless you count the DLC-added series (Endless Waltz, 00 Movie, Crossbone)

This game is going to be so awesome! I only wished Koei would've tossed us a bone via releasing a demo on the PSN store.

Ah, I get it now sorry if that seemed a tad odd, lol but thanks for clarifying that for me :)

I cant wait for this.

Quoted from Insp. Chin's blog, unfortunately it seems like there are no plans to localize the PSV version.. :(
http://inspchin.wordpress.com/2014/05/29/just-an-update/

Most questions I received from the expo are the PS Vita version as well as the PS4 plan. Unfortunately, I don’t see them in the list (I know how you feel, I myself as well would love some Gundams on my PS Vita handheld too).

I wish you had listed every DLC mission as a separate item in the PSN; I'm only interested in buying 3 missions:

-Fleet Battle Bundle
--Escape (Char/Zeong)

-Action Bundle
--Light of the Human Heart (Char/Sazabi)

-The Legendary Bundle
--Vessel of Mankind (Full Frontal/Sinanju)

Anyway, my dilemma is that I only want those 3 missions, but they are each on a separate bundle. Can you please indicate us why was the decision made to bundle them like this?

Alternatively, these 3 could have easily been part of a single "Red Comet Bundle".

On a different note, any idea if there might be more DLC incoming or if there might even be somewhere to send suggestions? I really wanted to see more Zeon/Neo Zeon MS, specially more units from the Gundam ZZ series.

In the Japanese/Asian version, the missions were available each individually. I'm not sure either why they decided to make it in bundles for the English version.. :( But then again they sort of did it with DW games too IIRC.

Though on an unrelated note, the English version has something else the JP/Asian version don't have: an all-in-one bundle

I still think that a "Red Comet Bundle" would have been perfect for these 3 missions though.
