Default DOA Dimension Banned for "child pornography" in Sweden

Sadly Bergsala, which is more or less Nintendo in sweden and the rest of Scandinavia, seems to have canceled the best 3DS game for sweden, norway and denmark now because we have retarded laws regarding child pornography here.

So because of Ayane, Kasumi and Kokoro all being under 18 years, and that DOA Dimensions has a "figure mode" it seems that Bergsala considers the game to be somewhere along the lines of child pornography which is ridiculous.

Especially when you think of all the DOA games that has been released, i don't understand why this was canceled.

Oh well, even though I don't have a 3DS yet, I'll try to see if i even can find the game here, and pick it up, since it'll probably be hard in the future.

One thing is for certain though, I've always found bergsala here in sweden to be worthless distributors, and this just increases my hate for them, and i'm kinda thinking of importing all nintendo games from the UK in the future.

More information about this can be found here:

Also, you guys at Tecmo Koei, if possible, could you try to make everyone at Tecmo Koei over the world, or at least Team Ninja, ignore Nintendo consoles in the future? Since there's no problem when the games are released for Microsoft or Sony's consoles.

It's not really a matter of Nintendo or whatever, it's just the law which was recently changed in Sweden. The same thing happened to the UK about a year ago so technically the same thing could happen to us too but it hasn't been enforced whatsoever over here so in that regard we're quite lucky. It's rather silly but what can you do?

Well i know this is related to those new laws, but still the game isn't even near being "child porn", and as such there shouldn't be any problem selling it as far as i know. And as far as i know their ages aren't even stated in the game.

Though Nintendo of Europe has chosen to not release the game to avoid any problems, and apparently Bergsala which is the Scandinavian distributor, doesn't seem to have had much to say in this case.

But oh well, Webhallen.com, a swedish store, has decided to sell the game anyways and ignore all this stuff, so I'm happy for that.

Again this is just how the law works. The way it is worded is so that any person, 2D or 3D, that is either below a certain age or looks under a certain age will be subject to this law. This is why Ar tonelico 3 had Cocona gain a few years out of nowhere, Rorona has a few years added on from her real age etc. when being brought over to America and Europe, it keeps the publishers out of trouble. Unfortunately the laws are getting worse and Sweden just happens to be one of the countries affected right now.

Ah i see, didn't know that they did such, but well I guess others should try to follow, or just try to not use younger girls in such games.

It sucks for Sweden. I have a friend there so he will miss out on this game and I believe he was interested in it.

3DS is region locked. Would a Swedish 3DS be able to play the PAL version? Not sure on Swedish games.

Well all of europe is based on PAL as far as i know, so there's no problem getting the game from another european country.

That's a wrong approach too though. Forced censorship and removal of content from a game already receives enough complaints. Germans and Australians, for example, have all violence/gore removed from their games, even if they're tagged 18+. This just isn't the right way to go about things, in my opinion. It'd be understandable if the characters were 10 years old, had a flat chest and were wearing revealing costumes or something but having these features removed because of 17 year olds? Really? That's two years above the age of consent in Sweden, if I recall correctly. Where does it stop exactly?

Because they need something else to at least attract interest. Dead or Alive is famous for its take on sexualising its characters what with a whole separate series of 'beach volleyball' which is pretty much just a breast simulator. How many fighting games do you see these days? AH3, Blazblue, Street Fighter, MvC3, Mortal Kombat, Tekken 5, Tekken x Street Fighter and Soul Calibur 5 coming soon etc. so they do need something that at least sets them apart. If this means that they need to have their ladies show some skin then so be it, the people in Japan (who I imagine is their target audience in the first place) eat that stuff up. I can understand where you're coming from but they have their set target audience and by changing up their designs they'll probably alienate their fan base.

Honestly I feel it's rather silly this should happen in the first place. First of all it's 2D, nobody is getting hurt by any of this. Secondly they're 17, 2 years above the age of consent and they certainly don't look underage either so what the heck is the problem? Why can't they just edit the game files and throw in a fake age and keep everyone happy? NISA is known for doing this and it allows all game content to remain in the game for the sake of a falsified age.
